With the first tests this afternoon supported by east winds, the world championship of the windsurfer class, organized by the Albaria club on the 40th anniversary of its foundation, got underway in Mondello. In the water 350 competitors from 25 nations. Three races completed in the medium-heavy and heavy categories. Two tests instead for the light and medium light, for the under 19 and for women.

With the first tests this afternoon supported by the winds of the East, the World Championship of the windsurfer class started in Mondello, organized by the circle Albaria in the 40th anniversary of the foundation. In the water 350 competitors from 25 nations. Three races completed in the medium-heavy and heavy categories. Two tests instead for light and medium light, for the under 19 and for women.

Predictions respected in all categories. Among the lighters in the lead is Marco Casagrande, among the medium-light, Nicola Campus, among the medium-heavy Alessandro Alberti and among the heavy, Riccardo Giordano. The Marsala Lauria Linares leads the women’s ranking and the young Blasco Aronica is leading the under 15.

Very regretted and disappointed the Palermo Marco Casagrande spearhead of the club Albaria. After winning the first two trials among the light, he was deprived of the third success just 30 meters from the finish, when the jury canceled the test for the wind. “Having three wins in my pocket would have given me more confidence and confidence for the rest of the championship. But I’ll get over it. Australians and French present themselves as the most fearsome competitors”, the words at the end of the race of the home surfer.

Tomorrow at 10.30, wind permitting, on the calendar three more races of the course-race and possibly also the slalom races.

Con le prime prove di oggi pomeriggio sostenute da venti di levante ha preso il via a Mondello il campionato del mondo della classe windsurfer, organizzato dal circolo Albaria nel 40° anniversario della fondazione. In acqua 350 concorrenti di 25 nazioni. Tre le regate portate a termine nelle categorie medio-pesanti e pesanti. Due prove invece per i leggeri e i medio leggeri, per gli under 19 e per le donne.

Pronostici rispettati in tutte le categorie. Tra i leggeri in testa si trova Marco Casagrande, tra i medio-leggeri, Nicola Campus, tra i medio-pesanti Alessandro Alberti e tra i pesanti, Riccardo Giordano. La marsalese Lauria Linares comanda la classifica femminile e il giovanissimo Blasco Aronica è in testa agli under 15.

Molto rammaricato e contrariato il palermitano Marco Casagrande punta di diamante del club Albaria. Dopo aver vinto le prime due prove tra i leggeri, si è visto privare del terzo successo a soli 30 metri dall’arrivo, quando la giuria ha annullato la prova per il calare del vento. “Avere tre vittorie in tasca mi avrebbe dato più fiducia e sicurezza per il prosieguo del campionato. Ma me ne farò una ragione. Australiani e francesi si presentano come i concorrenti più temibili”, le parole a fine gara del surfista di casa.

Domani alle 10,30, vento permettendo, in calendario altre tre prove della course-race e possibilmente anche le regate di slalom.
